Had a beautiful sunshine filled day for our second Scrappy Stitchers workshop. A lot of beautiful projects were in the works!!

Emily Baker from the Magic Makers 4-H club joined our group to make her very first quilt project which she will be displaying at the 2013 Hancock County Fair. She chose to do a Rail Fence pattern in a Red, White and Blue theme.

Vicky started her blocks for the Christmas Block Challenge. One down 15 more to go! :)

Nancy is doing an American Row of the Month project from The Fabric Peddler. This is the center of the project.

Frossie was working on a quilt top using the pattern Diamond Studded Court House using very colorful batiks. It is a quilt that makes you smile!

Judy creates wonderful minis and finished several for our eyes to see. She also gave a mini class in making mini-hexagons to Nancy and Theresa. It has made us want to try a few to see what we can do.

Susan and Diane were working on blocks for a quilt class called You Want Me To Piece What being put on by the Ohio Stars Quilt Guild. Completed tops will be posted at a later date. They are using a large variety of beautiful batiks.

We had a moment of Show and Tell with Judy, Frossie and Diane.

This is an English Paper Pieced Pentagram Churn Dash with hand embroidered centers which include tiny little buttons.

Judy does beautiful handy work too!

Frossie showed off the following, this one is called Gad About and she made this from a class she took at Millstream.

This one is called Flip a Coin, from fabric Frossie found at Shiloh, Ohio.

This one features a wonderful quilting pattern with footballs and the words Denver Broncos done by Ginger Ouwenga.

This Lasagna quilt by Frossie features a beautiful airplane pattern done by Ginger Ouwenga.

This is the completed quilt top from the blocks Frossie was working on at the last workshop using the pattern Good to Be Square.

Diane did her version of Good to Be Square awhile ago and brought in the finished quilt for our viewing and you can see why she calls this one Batik Beauty.

This Chinese Puzzle pattern was another done by Diane and she calls this one Simply Country.

This is a hand quilted pillow that Diane did for a show and she calls this one Blue Bliss.

Dee came by and picked up her Christmas Quilt Block Challenge fabric, Theresa's mom popped in to see what we were doing and visit with Frossie. Julie was missed, but was busy helping with a 4-H project in southern Ohio.

Keep up the good work ladies and maybe next month I will had a project to post on the blog and not just be taking the pictures. Until next time, happy sewing on many more beautiful project and remember to start your Christmas blocks.

Wow!! We have had an overwhelming response to our 1st Christmas Block Challenge. We now have 16 participants for this challenge and we are officially closing tonight at 16.

You will need to get with Nancy Kirkwood for your 1/2 yard of focus fabric. She will be at the Houcktown Church workshop Saturday, June 8 for anyone wanting to drop by and pick up fabric for $5. The address for the Houcktown Church is 15930 County Road 8, Findlay, OH 45840 if you want to GPS the way.

The challenge is to search your stash for fabrics to go with the focus fabric and make 16 blocks of the same pattern of your choice using the focus fabric in each block. The block size will be 12 ½” square before sewing top together and 12” square in finished top. Julie or Nancy correct me if I am wrong on this.

We will exchange the blocks on Saturday, September 14 at our workshop which will be held at the Liberty Township House at 9975 Twp Rd 89, Findlay, OH 45840 from 7:30 am-9 pm. Hopefully everyone can come and sew that day!!

Hello Everyone!
I am posting this invite to you to be a part of the Scrappy Stitchers. We are a group of quilters (all levels of knowledge) who enjoy getting together to work on UFOs or new creations in the environment of sharing, learning and friendship. All are welcome and hope you will come!! We are from all around the Findlay, OH area.
We will be gathering to sew on the second Saturday of each month from May through November in 2013. We will be scheduling 2014 dates for the Liberty Township house when the calendar comes out in November 2013.
For May 11 and June 8, we will be meeting at the Houcktown United Methodist Church at 15930 County Road 8, Houcktown, OH. We will meet from 8 am -5 pm on these days. The cost for this location will be a donation to the church and leaving the facility in the condition that we found it. No May or June dates for 2013 were available at Liberty Township house.
For July 13, August 10, September 14, October 12 and November 9, we will be meeting at the Liberty Township House at 9975 Twp Rd 89, Findlay, OH 45840. We will meet from 7:30 am -9 pm on these days. the Cost is $30 for the facility and it will be spilt among everyone attending that day. We have paid for this facility in advance for these 5 days. We also need to leave this facility in the condition that we found it.
December will be a potluck at Nancy Kirkwood's to show off our Christmas Block Challenge (details of this challenge in a previous post) quilt tops. More details on this at a later date.
We will have tables and chairs at both facilities. Be prepared to share a table depending on how many show up. You will need to bring a power bar and/or extension cords, so everyone will be able to plug in for power. We will have irons and ironing boards for everyone's use. We will also try to have several cutting areas set up for anyone needing to do any cutting. Depending on how you like your lighting, you may wish to bring an extra portable light for sewing.
The Houcktown Church has a sink, fridge and microwave, so bring your own drinks, snacks and lunch for the day. You have two grocery stores (Arlington and Mt. Blanchard), two dairy bars in Arlington and Mt. Blanchard) and a convenience store at the edge of Mt. Blanchard for anyone wishing to run somewhere and get something.
The Liberty Township house has a microwave and a fridge and we have use of them while there. Again bring your own drinks, snacks and lunch or you can run to anything you like in Findlay, since we are off St. Rt. 224.
I have sent an email to those I know that are interested in being a part of this group. Please feel free to email me at tltreads@aol.com or tltreads52@gmail.com with any questions you may have.
Our first workshop May 11 was a great time. Seven of us showed up for a fun day of sewing and sharing.  Our next Scrappy Stitchers workshop is June 8 at the Houchtown Church so come join us for another fun day of sewing!!!
The Scrappy Stitchers have talked about doing a Christmas Block Challenge that will utilize our stash for awhile, so we have now embarked on this adventure. Nancy Kirkwood and Judy Williamson went to The Door Mouse and picked out our focus fabric for the blocks. They chose Heartfelt Holiday by Wing and Prayer designs for Timeless Treasures Fabrics of SoHo, LLc.(pictured here)

If any of the Scrappy Stitchers wish to be a part of this challenge, you need to let Nancy Kirkwood know, as she has the focus fabric. For $5 you will receive a 1/2 yard of this fabric. You are to search your stash (purchase if you don't have what you need) for fabrics to go with this to make your blocks. Truly trying to use this opportunity to decrease our stash. We are making 12 1/2" blocks (12" finished). The number of blocks needed, will depend on how many join this challenge. The block pattern to use is totally your choice. We will exchange blocks at our September 2013 workshop (further details to come). Nancy will be hosting a pot luck at her house in December of 2013 (further details to come) so everyone can show off what they have done on their quilt tops with the blocks they received. Happy sewing everyone!!!
