Wow the room at the Liberty Township house was humming with activity today!! Eleven quilters came together today sewing and laughing. The day included several visitors too! Lori Hicks (president of the Stitchin Time Quilt Guild) stopped by to talk to me about an upcoming shop hop on August 3 that we are chauffeurs for. She walked the room and saw what was being worked on by everyone.

Ginger Ouwenga stopped by to see what everyone was working on and to share a block from a quilt class coming in the fall of 2013. She will be teaching a class at Millstream called Buggy Wheels. Watch for the Millstream Adult Education flyer in The Courier to see when this class is. Love the look of this block and will be signing up for this class! Ginger is our go to lady for all our long arm quilting of our quilts!!

 

Terry Channels was able to join us for this workshop after wintering in Florida and doing her barefoot quilting in the sun! This was her first retirement quilt she made in Florida and will be going back to stay there for when she visits in the winter. This quilt was made from a pattern called Jelly Patch in the Straight to the Point Series. She spent the day sewing on the binding and label. 

  

Vicky Dukes showed us her quilt she made from a class called Celestial Waltz. She made this as a 50th Anniversary gift for an Aunt and Uncle. She also shared several of her blocks for the 2013 Christmas Block Challenge. She went on to start another quilt in our favorite color purple! 

 

  

Julie Wagner was working on several table topper/wall hangings. This one was done using the Bear Paw pattern. She does a great job with putting fabrics and colors together.

 

  

She is making this Disappearing 9 Patch table topper for the Buckeye Desk and Derrick Club she is involved with through work. She has made various items for them all with a Fall theme. Once Julie was done with these toppers she started cutting fabric for an Alberta Stars pattern that she found on  www.allpeoplequilt.com that has awesome free quilt patterns.







  

Frossie Dauer was working on a king size quilt for a friend that wanted a dog themed one as she raises Whippets. Her friend chose the fabrics and Frossie chose a Single Irish Chain pattern that we found online to complete the quilt. She started a baby quilt after completing this quilt top. 

  

Judy Williamson was working on a beautiful Acorn table runner that involved applique. She also showed us a block she made with tiny hexagons.

 



 

Jacquie Sharrer dropped in for a visit and shared one of her blocks she is making for the 2013 Christmas block challenge. Hope she can join us at future workshops.

  

 

Dee Yoxtheimer joined us and spent the day working on her quilt blocks for the 2013 Christmas Block Challenge. Can't wait till September to see all the blocks for this challenge. Putting this quilt top together is going to be so much fun!

  

 

 Rosemary Tritch was able to join us and work on her quilt top "You Want Me to Piece a What?" (Disappearing 9 Patch) that Diane Warren, Susan Sommers and her are working on from the Ohio Star Quilt Guild. It was great to see Rosemary out and about and sewing with friends.  

  

Andrea Sweitzer was able to join us and spent the day working on her 2013 Christmas Block Challenge. It is great to see everyone getting together and enjoying visiting and sewing on such a beautiful day!! 

 

 Nancy Kirkwood worked on several table runners. This one was from a class called True Blue Snowman that was held earlier this year in North Baltimore. She chose to do it in a totally different theme than snowmen.  

 

 This one was done in a total Halloween theme. She continued to work on her Mystery Block of the Month from the Fabric Peddler in Wadsworth.

  

 

 

I was finally able to finish a couple of quilt tops today. This one is one of several quilts our Stitichin Time Guild is doing for service projects and when completed will go to the Hope House.   

  

This one is a lasagna quilt that I was making from several jelly rolls that I got on clearance at Wal-Mart. This one will go in my stash of quilts that I will be donating when they are complete. 

  

This ends another day in the world of the Scrappy Stitchers!! We meet again August 10 at the Liberty Township House. Come join us for a day of sewing and laughter. All are welcome who wish to spend the day (or part of it) with other quilting enthusiasts. Can't spend the day, then drop in and see what everyone is working on and visit for awhile.
